Almost six months on from the first ever National Indigenous Youth Parliament, the 50 young participants continue to support each other in their leadership journeys.

The week-long event was run by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), in partnership with the YMCA, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Indigenous Australians’ right to vote in federal elections.

Nine Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women received awards for their achievements and contributions to Australian society at the inaugural 100 Women of Influence Awards held in Sydney.

Chosen by a judging panel from a list of 350 nominees, the final 100 women were identified and celebrated for their efforts in driving change, and helping shape a better future for Australia, both socially and economically.
