Coronavirus (COVID-19)
There are important steps you should take to help reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID‑19) and protect yourself and those who are most at risk.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are at greater risk of coronavirus if they:
- are aged 50 years and over with chronic medical conditions
- have a weakened immune system
- are aged 70 years and over
To help slow the spread of COVID-19, practise good hygiene and physical distancing and follow the local rules for public gatherings, quarantine and isolation.
Visit the Department of Health website for more information on how to protect yourself and others from (COVID-19) and for specific advice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. You can also use this interactive map to find an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Health Service near you.
COVID-19 Vaccination
The COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary, free and available to everyone in Australia.
It is important that every person who receives the COVID-19 vaccine receives both doses to provide the best immunity against the virus.
The vaccines will be available at your local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, Commonwealth vaccination clinics, participating general practices, and state and territory clinics.
Use the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder to help you find a clinic where you can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
