State Funeral for Mrs Faith Bandler AC 1918-2015

A State Funeral for Mrs Faith Bandler AC will take place at 11.00 am on Tuesday 24 February, in the Great Hall, University Place, The University of Sydney,Sydney, NSW.

Mrs Bandler died quietly and peacefully on the morning of Friday 13 February 2015.

Throughout her life, she was guided by a strong commitment to social justice, equity and compassion. In 1997 Mrs Bandler was awarded the Human Rights Medal and in 2003 she received a Centenary Medal. In 2009 Mrs Bandler was made a Companion of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the community through the advancement of human rights and social justice, and by raising public awareness and understanding of the cultural heritage of South Seas Islanders, and to women's issues.

Family, friends, representatives of organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend the State Funeral. There is no requirement to register. Seating will be in order of arrival.

Doors will open at 10.00 am. All guests are kindly requested to be seated by 10.30 am. Ushers will be on hand to assist with seating. An overflow area with televised coverage of the service will also be available, although not all sections of the overflow area will be under cover.
