The Working on Country Photography Competition showcases the important work of Indigenous ranger and Indigenous Protected Area groups by inviting them to share their stories visually. This year there were more than 250 entries, with the images crafting a vivid story about Indigenous land and sea management. Three Indigenous judges with a background in photography and conservation management had the difficult task of shortlisting 40 photos, which will be displayed at the Australian National Botanic Gardens from 15 June - 10 July. Each of the shortlisted photographs captures the spirit of a specific Working on Country project, or Indigenous Protected Area. The exhibition shows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s continued cultural ties to their traditional lands, and their determination to pass on a healthy country to their children. You can also vote for your favourite photograph as part of the People's Choice award or find out more about the exhibition in Canberra.
