Pitch Short Blacks: Call out for new and emerging Indigenous filmmakers

21 Mar 2016

Screen Australia’s Indigenous Department is calling on new and emerging Indigenous filmmakers from across Australia to apply for Pitch Short Blacks, an initiative designed to bring 10-minute dramatic stories, authored and crafted by Indigenous people, to the screen.

Applicants can apply for up to $6,000 for project development. Eight creative teams will be selected to participate in the development phase of the initiative, which includes attending two Screen Australia-run development workshops in June and August 2016. From then, six applicants will be selected for production funding.

Penny Smallacombe, Head of the Indigenous Department at Screen Australia said: “Pitch Short Blacks is a unique opportunity for new and emerging Indigenous screen practitioners. We want to see their bold, creative and ambitious ideas for ten minute dramatic stories, and we look forward to working with the selected teams from development through to production.”

Applications close on Friday 22 April 2016.
