ABSTUDY payments can help if your child is living at home or away from home for high school.

ABSTUDY is a group of payments to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians with the costs of study.

You can usually start getting ABSTUDY for your child when they start high school. This is whether they live at home or need to live away from home to study; for example, at a boarding school.

ABSTUDY can help with your child’s boarding and school fees, travel costs and other school items.

Until your child turns 16, you’ll be able to get ABSTUDY payments at the same time as Family Tax Benefit.
