What’s on during NAIDOC week
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
NAIDOC 2018 celebrates the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made —and continue to make— to our communities, our families, our history and to our nation.
This year’s theme, Because of her, we can! celebrates our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Share profiles of community leaders on what the theme means to them
- Find NAIDOC Week events in your community
- Download resources to help your community, school or organisation to share in the celebrations.
- Watch the National NAIDOC Awards 2018 live on NITV, Friday 13 July, 7.30pm
- Follow NAIDOC Week 2018 on social media: #BecauseOfHerWeCan #NAIDOC2018
