SharingStories Foundation: The Eagle, the Crow and the Bat

Culture and Capability
A mature aged man with long hair and beard hugs a young girl with dark hair. In the background are trees. At bottom right are the words: The story in this book is a story my father told me, it’s hugely important to pass it on to our children.

The Eagle, the Crow and the Bat is a creation story produced by the Jaara community with support from SharingStories Foundation.

For thousands of years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been telling stories about the creation of their Country, their ancestors and their enduring links to culture and all things sacred to them.

SharingStories Foundation have launched a series of multi-touch books ‘Stories from Country’ which bring these creation stories to life through new technologies.

The Eagle, the Crow and the Bat is a rich cultural story shared by the Jaara Community about Jaara totems and teachings, and how the Jaara Country came to be.
