Share your views on Closing the Gap
We’re inviting all Australians to share their views on the future of Closing the Gap.
It’s the 10th anniversary of Closing the Gap. There has been progress in health, employment and education, but we still have a long way to go.
It’s now time to look at where we’ve been, what’s worked and where we can do better. Come to our website and share your views on the future of Closing the Gap.
‘Closing the Gap is something we need to be striving for. It's possible through positive leadership, strong community [ownership] and the inclusion of non-Aboriginal Australia in helping us achieve the goals,’ says Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) member Roy Ah-See.
We want all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, organisations and communities to get involved. ‘As blackfellas, we say policy has failed because we haven’t been consulted. We talked about doing things with us not to [us]. We have a chance to have our say, so let’s get in and have our say’, says IAC Co-Chair Chris Sarra.
IAC Co-Chair Andrea Mason agrees. ‘Closing of the Gap targets are about us, it’s about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and anything that is about us needs to be shaped by us.’
‘I really hope that everyone gets on board, there is nothing that should be left off the table and no stone left unturned. This is really great opportunity for people to share their opinions and ideas.’
To succeed, all Australians must work together. Share your views on closingthegaprefresh.pmc.gov.au
