RAES-ing the bar for employment services in remote Australia

A new employment service is coming to remote Australia later this year to help people get job-ready. Tell us what you think about its draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines.

Remote communities, job seekers and organisations are invited to have their say on a new employment service coming to remote Australia, with its draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines now open for feedback.

The Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) is stage two of the Australian Government’s commitment to replace the Community Development Program (CDP). Stage one is the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program, which is focused on job creation.

Starting on 1 November this year, the RAES will help around 40,000 job seekers in remote areas learn new skills, find pathways into work and stay employed. It will also encourage communities and providers to design locally tailored solutions to support more job seekers to get ready for work.

Draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines (GOGs) for the RAES are currently available on the NIAA website for information and feedback. You can have your say on the draft GOGs, particularly:

  • Grants available (including the Provider Payment Model)
  • Eligible grant activities
  • Eligible expenditure
  • Assessment criteria
  • How we monitor your grant activity

Provide your feedback on the draft GOGs by completing this short survey or emailing RemoteEmploymentService@niaa.gov.au before Monday 21 April 2025.

Watch a short video message from Minister for Indigenous Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy, about these programs and how they’re raising the bar for remote communities.
