ORIC Spotlight On: Walking strong for Ngunnawal families

Children and Schooling
7 adults stand in a close group outdoors in front of a blue marquee tent. Each of them has their hand on the shoulder or arm of each other. The man on the left has his hand on a whiteboard sign that has a poster for Yerrabi Yurwang.

Yerrabi Yurwang Child & Family Aboriginal Corporation has strengthened its ties with the Ngunnawal community in a recent celebration of National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

The Yerrabi Yurwang Child & Family Aboriginal Corporation, based on Ngunnawal Country, northern ACT, has strengthened its roots in the community with a celebration for National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

The corporation hosted a gala barbeque on Canberra’s north-side, to bring together families, community members and government ministers.

This event included activities such as boomerang painting and games in the park, but also provided the opportunity for the corporation to gather inspiration and ideas on how to help the community.

Read more about the celebration and Yerrabi Yurwang’s role in the community in this month’s Spotlight On.
