ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC works for Kaurna in the Tarntanya (Adelaide) community, to care for all their elders and to involve all Australians in their healing.

Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KYAC) manages native title rights and interests in 17 small parcels of reclaimed Kaurna land in Tarntanya (Adelaide) Country. A large focus for the corporation is looking after all the Elders.

KYAC manages the difficult but vital task of repatriating human remains, when they are unearthed by ground clearing works, or when a museum agrees to return them.

They encourage all Australians to participate in their healing and they were one of the first groups to involve media in their repatriation rituals.

The organisation is also improving conditions for living Kaurna Elders, with the recent approval of a purpose-built housing community.

Read more about the history and role of KYAC in this month’s Spotlight On.
