Culture and Capability

NITV has made an impact on the media landscape since they went free to air on a dedicated channel on SBS in December.

As well as showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their culture and providing employment opportunities, NITV can play an important role in getting messages out to communities, particularly around issues like closing the gap.

Head of Production Susan Moylan-Coombs told Newslines that NITV is in a position to be a voice for all indigenous Australians.

“I think NITV is a unique broadcaster in that we know who we are about and why we are doing it. It’s a place where people can come to find out about the first nation peoples of this country,” she said.
