Newslines Radio: Home ownership a dream come true
We look at how the Australian dream of owning your own home can become a reality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians having opportunities to own their own home to provide safe and secure environments for their families, which is a key part of Closing the Gap in Indigenous disadvantage.
In this Newslines Radio program you will hear from home owners Graeme and Lee Willis from Alice Springs who told us how proud they are to own their first home.
Lee told us: “The first in Graeme’s family to buy his house and second in mine, we both come from families that parents didn’t own their own houses so it was a big thing for us and our kids”.
We will also speak to Dylan Morgan from Kalgoorlie in WA who explained that buying a home was the best thing for his family.
