Newslines Radio attended the recent National Congress of Australia’s First People’s annual event in Alice Springs to talk to Indigenous leaders about their thoughts on governance, which is one of the Closing the Gap building blocks.
National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples co-chair Les Malezer tells Newslines that the Congress has learnt from other Indigenous organisations about the best governance practices.

This program also features Rune Fjellheim director-general of Norway’s Sami Parliament, which represents the Indigenous people of the Arctic Circle. Rune identifies many similarities between the strong Indigenous leaders in Australia and those of the Sami people.
