Culture and Capability

Visit the new National NAIDOC Week website for events, resources and more.

Each July, National NAIDOC Week is celebrated across the nation. This year’s theme Because of her, we can! celebrates the vital role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play within communities and across Australia.

National NAIDOC Committee Co-Chairs, Anne Martin and Ben Mitchell share their thoughts on why this week is important to all Australians.

‘NAIDOC Week plays a vital and unique role in the coming together or many Australians from diverse background and nationalities – joining together to celebrate our culture as the oldest living continuing culture of the planet.’

To help your community, school, business and friends celebrate NAIDOC Week, the refreshed National NAIDOC Week website has new events, resources and ideas for how you can get involved. If you have an event, make sure you add it to the Events Calendar.
