IGA Tennant Creek employee Neville Holt was the proud recipient of his Certificate III in Meat Processing and Meat Retail today.
Neville was presented with his Certificate by William Angliss trainer Trevor Edon, watched by store manager Angus Harrison and IRAM’s Merchandise and Marketing Manager Andrew Hobers.
Neville was born and raised in Tennant Creek. Six years ago, he did a course with Karen Sheldon Training in Tennant Creek, who then found him a job at the IGA.
After stacking shelves for a while, Neville started work in the butchery section of the store and began his apprenticeship.
After completing 44 theoretical and practical modules, he graduated today with his Certificate III.
Neville is proud of his achievement and hopes to encourage other young people in Tennant Creek to following in his footsteps, starting with his son!
IRAM, which manages the store on behalf of co-owners Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) and Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation, is now looking to take on another apprentice.
“We are incredibly proud of Neville,” said Andrew Hobers. “I’m certain his success will make him a role model in the community.”
