Natalie connects her community with government services

Employment

Proud Yuin woman, Natalie, talks about supporting the Darug community as an Indigenous Service Officer with Services Australia.

Natalie is a proud Yuin woman from western Sydney who works closely with community organisations in her role as an Indigenous Service Officer with Services Australia.

I've lived on Darug land my whole life and continue to work on Darug land to support my community.

One community organisation she works with is the Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation. It invites organisations such as Services Australia, Aboriginal Housing Office and Service NSW to come in and speak with their community members and help them move forward.

This work provides a safe space where people can seek essential support and connect with vital services.

'I want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable seeking the help they need,' Natalie said.

'In the community I service, there can be shame about saying “hey, I need help”.'

It's not just about getting someone on payments and see you later. It's about everyone coming together and helping them with the next chapter in life.
