Nallawilli Technology: providing innovative solutions to government

Under the Indigenous Procurement Policy, the Indigenous technology company Nallawilli Technology is providing the Commonwealth government with innovative solutions.

Nallawilli Technology is a 100 per cent Indigenous owned and operated communications technology company.

‘Nallawilli’ means to "sit down and listen to one another" in the Indigenous Darug language. Its name forms the foundation of the business’s approach to engaging with its stakeholders.

The North Sydney based company is the only Indigenous business to build and host its own cloud technology, operations, helpdesk, development and testing lab in Australia. This has the advantages of creating jobs in Australia and secures clients information securely in Australia.

The IT services they provide include: project management, installation, maintenance and helpdesk for audio, video and web conferencing. They also provide voice, video and content sharing using secure public or private cloud, and on premise solutions and webcasting events.

Under the Indigenous Procurement Policy, in the 2015-16 financial year Nallawilli Technology was awarded nine contracts by five Commonwealth portfolios.

Nallawilli Technology’s dedication to their work was apparent when seeking a contract with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Before quoting they attended the site to determine the equipment and services required for the job. They were then able to propose alternative solutions that were more innovative, user friendly and cost effective.

They won the contract.

ATO Assistant Commissioner, Paul Kruspe said the agency looked forward to working with Nallawilli in the future.

“When hosting international delegates, the solution offered by Nallawilli Technology was very functional, uncomplicated and easily operated,” Paul said.

Roderick McLeod, Founder and CEO of Nallawilli Technology is a descendant of the Yatemetung and Ngarrindjeri Nations. He is committed to ‘giving back’ through the Community Connect initiative, and by employing Indigenous people.

Roderick said he wants to contribute to improving the life skills and opportunities for Indigenous people, especially youth.

“I want to lead by example and encourage Indigenous people to persist with their education, lead healthier lifestyles and learn and grow their self-reliance,” Roderick said.

Nallawilli Technology is certified with Supply Nation, the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSW ICC) and the First Australians Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI). They provide services to the Commonwealth, state governments, corporations and not for profit organisations.
