NAIDOC Week posters available across Australia thanks to Yalagan Imprint

Culture and Capability
A man stands at a drafting table on which are two mainly black and white posters. To the right of the posters is a colour matching gauge. In the background is a large video screen.

Indigenous owned business Yalagan Imprint is contracted to print this year’s NAIDOC poster for national distribution.

NAIDOC Week is one of the most important weeks on the Australian cultural calendar. The NAIDOC poster, its chief and most recognisable symbol, is used and prominently displayed all year long.

The right to print the poster is a great honour and that honour has gone again to Yalagan Imprint, a subsidiary of Yalagan Group.

Georgia Walker is Marketing Coordinator at Yalagan Group.

‘We are proud to be an Indigenous business delivering on such a timely, equally important and relevant material such as this,’ Georgia said.

Since last year, Yalagan Imprint has grown in its capacity and Imprint Co-Founder and Yindjibarndi/Njamal woman and artist Jessica Wilson has taken on a client-facing role as its Creative Director.

‘We are so honoured to have been chosen for the second year in a row to print and distribute the NAIDOC week posters,’ Jessica said.

‘Winning the NIAA contract last year and having the opportunity to participate in bringing NAIDOC week to life was a real kick off point for the business and enabled us to gain a whole variety of contracts, and service even more clients by increasing our scope of services.’

‘As a young Indigenous woman this is an exciting time to be in business, we look forward to growing the company even further as the year progresses and working closer with NIAA to help support on these kinds of projects.’

Yalagan Group began as an Indigenous recruitment and labour hire business that targeted construction companies throughout Australia and its success has enabled it to expand.

‘Yalagan Group has been working towards diversifying over the last few years since we started in early 2017,’ Georgia said.

‘Imprint was established in the middle of 2020 at the height of the COVID pandemic, and with an Indigenous core focus of providing services, print, design, and marketing, we hope to become a leading Indigenous owned and operated print provider.’

‘The group has secured both State and Federal contracts which are important in growing Yalagan,’ Georgia said.

‘But what is equally important is that we are viewed by relevant industry leaders so that we may deliver our services with a strong force and cultural focus behind it.’

Like the Group itself, Yalagan Imprint is delivering a high quality service for its customers. This includes progressive and competitive print solutions to companies, no matter their size.

‘Our clients are, and we are, a Supply Nation certified business that is working towards becoming a 100% Net Zero Carbon Footprint provider,’ Georgia said.

The 2022 NAIDOC Week poster is available online from 2022 Poster or in hard copy from NIAA Regional offices and Woolworth stores around Australia.
