NAIDOC week funding

Closure of 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round
Due to the risk to public health currently posed by the potential spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Australian Government has advised Australians to slow the spread of the virus through social distancing measures. These measures include avoiding large public gatherings if they are not essential, and keeping a distance of 1.5 metres between you and other people whenever possible.
As a result of this and after careful consideration, the National Indigenous Australians Agency has decided to close the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round. This means that applications for the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round are not being progressed, and no funding will be awarded under the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round at this time. The Agency’s decision is also in line with the National NAIDOC Committee’s decision to postpone NAIDOC Week 2020 (5–12 July 2020) in the interest of safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
While funded NAIDOC events are generally small, we are taking this cautious approach to support Australia’s efforts in controlling the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, particularly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
We anticipate that we will re-open the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round at an appropriate time once alternative arrangements for NAIDOC Week are confirmed but do not know, at this stage, when this will be. Any information about the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round re-opening will be published on this website, the Agency’s social media pages and the NAIDOC website.
If you wish to be notified about future arrangements, please email NAIDOCGrants@niaa.gov.au.
We acknowledge that the preparation of grant funding applications is time consuming and thank all of those who have taken the time to consider starting, begin drafting and submit applications for the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round.
