Logie nomination for Move It Mob Style

Children and Schooling

Indigenous television production Move It Mob Style has been named one of the five nominees for Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the 56th annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Indigenous television production Move It Mob Style has been named one of the five nominees for Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the 56th annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Co-host Shannon Williams (aka Brothablack) said the whole team was really excited and proud to be nominated.

“It’s proven that there’s a want and a need for Aboriginal broadcasting and television,” Shannon said.

“To be at the spearhead of what’s happening now for Aboriginal productions on TV, it’s a huge honour and it’s a great time to be a part of this movement.”

Supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Health and produced by the Deadly Vibe Group, Move It Mob Style focuses on dance as a way to stay healthy.

Now in its fourth season, the program is targeted at Indigenous youth and features some of the country’s best Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dancers.

Through their travels across Australia, the Move It Mob Style crew have captured health and Indigenous cultural segments giving viewers an insight into the remote, urban and regional lifestyles of Australia’s first peoples.

“For myself and Naomi, being in the studio and throwing to all these different stories that are filmed all around the country, to learn about them as we’re actually presenting them and then to see them back once we’ve recorded the shows is very rewarding,” Shannon said.

“It’s bringing everyone together on so many levels, from sport to music to all the different activities that are happening throughout the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”

Shannon said he was so grateful to everyone who had watched the show and supported it.

“And congrats to our brother as well, Luke Carroll, who’s been nominated for Playschool.

“It’s just proof that Aboriginal people and Aboriginal content is on the rise and very relevant now on Australian television.”
