Indigenous young adults Cassie Moad and Josh Doble have set their feet securely on exciting career paths with Employment Parity Initiative (EPI) Partner, Crown Resorts.

Cassie Moad and Josh Doble are on exciting career paths with Employment Parity Initiative (EPI) Partner, Crown Resorts.

Cassie applied for a hospitality role after hearing about opportunities at Crown Melbourne, from a friend. She met with Crown’s Indigenous employment team to discuss possible career options and jumped at the chance to be a Table Games Dealer.

Eight months later, the highlight of working at Crown Melbourne for Cassie has been meeting a diverse range of people.

“I love the variety – it mixes things up. I’ve met some great people, including those inside of work who you meet along the way.” Cassie knows her skills will be transferrable wherever she ends up. She is keen to learn and develop as much as she can. “I’m open-minded as to where I want to go. I am keen to go with the flow and check out the opportunities that are available here – there are so many different roles and options available” Cassie said.

Cassie is motivated to contribute to the success of the Indigenous employment work at Crown Resorts. “It’s such a big help for me, plus the training is really good here so you don’t need to have the skillset when you first join Crown.”

Josh has thrived in his role as Front Office Attendant at Crown Metropol in Melbourne. Josh began at Crown Metropol in May 2016 and praises the support he has received since starting.

“I have made great contacts throughout the whole process and the support from both my supervisors and duty managers has been amazing,” Josh said.

When asked about his plans for the future, Josh is not shy in expressing his desire to expand his career.

“I recently did some training in Income Audit and met a guy who had been at Crown for 15-20 years. He told me about his experiences throughout his career, right from when Crown opened.”

Learning about the opportunities provided by Crown has been the most valuable lesson for Josh so far.

“You won’t work anywhere that looks after their employees as much as Crown does, with all of our internal employment opportunities and programs, there is so much that you can do,” Josh said.

This has inspired Josh to stay with Crown and encouraged him to gain insight into different departments to shape his future career.

Crown Resorts has been an EPI Partner since 2015, their Indigenous Employment Program has won Australian Business Awards.
