The National Indigenous Australians Agency has been established to lead Indigenous affairs policy for the Australian Government.

The new National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) was launched on 1 July 2019. This is an exciting time for Indigenous affairs policy.

Since 2013, Indigenous affairs policy and program delivery has been the responsibility of the Indigenous Affairs Group (IAG) within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C).

The Hon. Ken Wyatt is the Minister for Indigenous Australians, and Mr Ray Griggs AO, CSC is the inaugural CEO of the NIAA.

IAG staff will continue their work at the NIAA and the transition will not affect existing services delivered or funded by PM&C or the Regional Office Network.
