International Women’s Day – More Powerful Together
To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March, Indigenous.gov.au is showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who prove that we are ‘More Powerful Together’.
International Women’s Day is Friday the 8 March.
This year’s theme is ‘More Powerful Together’.
In celebration of this important day, Indigenous.gov.au searched its archives and found stories to share which showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who are showing us that we are ‘More Powerful Together’.
It includes inspiring stories from women like Andrea Cameron from Palumpa in the NT who helps keep her community safe as a night patroller, and artist Elisa Jane Carmichael who shares her saltwater country heritage with the world.
Ms Cameron used her previous experience as a member of the NT police to be successful in the role of patrolling the streets at night, offering culturally sensitive assistance and transporting community members to safety.
