Indigenous Business Sector Strategy: consultations now open
Comments are being sought on the draft Indigenous Business Sector Strategy which proposes new initiatives to create a vibrant and thriving Indigenous business sector, including better access to support services, improved access to finance and stronger networks.
On 3 May 2017, the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Senator the Hon Nigel Scullion, announced the release of the draft Indigenous Business Sector Strategy for consultation.
What is the Indigenous Business Sector Strategy?
The Indigenous Business Sector Strategy will inform how businesses, government and the community best support Indigenous business over the next 10 years. It brings together the two key elements of the Australian Government’s approach to Indigenous economic development: boosting demand and building supply.
The draft strategy proposes new initiatives to create a vibrant and thriving Indigenous business sector, including:
- better access to support services
- improved access to finance
- stronger networks.
Through the consultation you can provide feedback on the different initiatives.
Who should comment on the draft Strategy?
Collaboration with Indigenous businesses is vital to ensure the final Strategy contains the support Indigenous businesses need to succeed. The consultation is open to anyone who has an interest in the Indigenous business sector, including:
- business owners and operators
- entrepreneurs
- banks and finance providers
- academics
- community members.
