Congratulations go to the Mossman Gorge Centre for winning the Silver Award for Cultural Tourism at the 2015 Queensland Tourism Awards.

Proving a leader in Cultural Tourism in Far North Queensland, the Mossman Gorge Centre picked up the Silver Award at the 2015 Queensland Tourism Awards held in Brisbane earlier this month in recognition of its iconic location and quality product offering.

The Mossman Gorge Centre’s General Manager, Ben Pratt couldn’t be more proud.

“This is a great achievement as this was the first time that the Centre nominated for the Cultural Tourism category. Our business was competing with similar non-Indigenous businesses throughout Queensland in the mainstream arena,” Ben said.

The recent win has opened the door to a world of possibilities.

“We will be competing in several categories next year as we believe Mossman Gorge is at a level where it stands toe-to-toe and shoulder-to-shoulder with the biggest and best tourism businesses right across Queensland and Australia,” Ben said.

Since opening in 2012, the Mossman Gorge Centre has welcomed over 750,000 locals and tourists alike to the eco-tourism facility set amongst the beautiful World Heritage listed Daintree National Park.

It was a dream brought to life by local Indigenous Elder, Roy Gibson who worked with the Indigenous Land Corporation subsidiary Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and the Australian Government to build the impressive $20m facility.

Quality products and excellent services are provided through their guided tours, cafe and restaurant, and art gallery and retail shop featuring artefacts made in the nearby Mossman Gorge Community. The Mossman Gorge Centre also provides Indigenous employment and training opportunities through their residential college and training facilities.

Congratulations to the Mossman Gorge Centre on a well-deserved award.
