Boost for Impact Services Employment Program
Due to its success, the Impact Services Aboriginal Employment Program has received an additional $346,500 to the program to September 2021.
Stuart Roberts is an Aboriginal man from Albany Western Australia who is passionate about helping his people live fulfilling and healthy lives.
He wanted to help achieve greater employment and economic development opportunities for Aboriginal people and their communities.
This is how Impact Services was born. The Aboriginal employment company delivers employment and contract services throughout Western Australia. This includes providing labour hire solutions, recruitment, engagement of apprentices and trainees, and contract services such as commercial cleaning and gardening services to local businesses and Government agencies.
Now Director of Impact Services, Stuart has a long of history working in the employment industry and always wanted to create a service that meets the needs of his people.
‘I’m passionate about helping people live full and meaningful lives, and also wanting to address some of the negative cycles that affect Aboriginal people which have been caused through issues such as intergenerational trauma and lack of opportunity,’ Stuart said.
The organisation also utilises its successful Solid Foundations ‘work ready’ program. The program, focuses on preparing Aboriginal job seekers to enter the workforce by providing training in life skills, career mapping and entry into employment.
‘The effects we have seen in the lives of our clients who have gone into employment as a result of the support provided has been transformational. We have seen clients come from backgrounds of generational unemployment and imprisonment, to now holding fulltime jobs and contributing positively to their communities and becoming important role models to their families’ Stuart said.
Since launching in 2019, Impact Services has placed more than 40 job seekers into employment across community services, construction, land management, meat processing, and maintenance sectors. Recently, the program received another $346,500 in funding and as a result will extend their services to September 2021.
