The NAIDOC Week grant round is now open. Communities can apply for a grant to host a celebration during NAIDOC Week

Is your community holding a NAIDOC Week celebration? Local grants are now open to support events and activities that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

The 2019 National NAIDOC Week theme, Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future recognises Australia’s Indigenous identity was formed over 65,000 years ago and remains ingrained in our national fabric today.

The Australian Government has committed $1.4 million in funding for NAIDOC activities to be held during National NAIDOC Week from the 7-14 July 2019.

Ideas for activities and events include:

  • arts and cultural
  • family fun days
  • elders’ activities
  • bush tucker and other community cooking
  • NAIDOC themed sporting activities or competitions
  • promoting reconciliation
  • flag raising ceremonies
  • promoting health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Applications close 5:00 pm (AEDT) Monday 25 February 2019.
