Where to get help with tax

Jobs, Land and Economy
The ATO is offering their free and confidential Tax Help program this tax time.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is offering their free and confidential Tax Help program this tax time for those earning $60,000 or less. If you are ineligible for the Tax Help program, the National Tax clinic program may be able to help instead.

Tax can be complex, and everyone’s situation is different.

If you earn about $60,000 or less, you may be eligible for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Tax Help program.

The Tax help program is a free and confidential service that runs from July to October each year. The ATO’s trained volunteers are not ATO employees and they help people lodge their tax returns online, by phone or in person from Tax Help centres located around Australia.

If you are not eligible for Tax Help, the National Tax Clinic program may be able to help instead.  Tax Clinics can also assist you with any self-employment income, including work you undertook using your ABN.

You can locate information about Tax Help on our website or by contacting the ATO Helpline on 13 10 30 to find your nearest centre.

If you are interested in becoming a Tax Help centre or would like further information, send an email with your name and contact details to Ceataxhelp@ato.gov.au

The ATO have created 39 occupation and industry guides to help you work out what you can and can’t claim in your tax return.
