Update 2021 National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony Postponed

The National NAIDOC Committee has postponed the 2021 National NAIDOC Awards in light of the increasing risks related to COVID-19.

The National NAIDOC Committee, in consultation with the Alice Springs NAIDOC Committee, made the difficult decision in early June to cancel the 2021 National NAIDOC Awards ceremony event scheduled in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and move it to the Sydney Opera House.

Unfortunately, with the increasing health risk and updated COVID-19 restrictions announced in the Greater Sydney region, a decision has now been made to postpone the ceremony entirely.

Keeping communities COVID-free and our Elders, communities and children safe, has always been the number one priority.

With the Awards Ceremony postponed for now, the National NAIDOC Committee will regroup with key stakeholders to look at a suitable date later in the year.

NAIDOC Week 2021 will still be held from 4 to 11 July with events and celebrations happening in-person and online around Australia.

It is a timely reminder that Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to be a concern for communities around Australia so we all need to keep safe this NAIDOC week. Find out more about holding or attending a COVIDSafe NAIDOC week event.
