Blue tile with the following words in the centre: State Funeral for John Ah Kit

The passing of Dr Ah Kit is a great loss to the Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory.

To honour John Ah Kit and his legacy, a state funeral will be held at the TIO Stadium, Marrara on Wednesday, July 22 at 3pm.

The passing of Dr Ah Kit is a great loss to the Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory.

‘[His] contribution to the lives of all Territorians was hugely significant. As well as a lifetime leader and advocate for his people, he was also the first Aboriginal Cabinet Minister in the Northern Territory Government and served in five portfolios from 1995 till 2005,’ Minister Wyatt said.

His strong leadership and dedication to the rights of Aboriginal people will be missed but his achievements will live on as measured in the lives of Indigenous Australians in the Territory and across Australia.

For further details on the Funeral see Statement on State Funeral for John Ah Kit.
