New resource to support students with disability and their families

Education
Our right to learn and play - Department of Education, Australian Government

The Department of Education have released a new resource to highlight the protected rights of students with disability.

The story of Jarrod and his friends, Janaya, Louisa and Tyson, helps students and their families better understand the rights of students with disability under the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (DSE).

A new resource available from the Department of Education offers practical tips and information about the rights of students with disability.

Jarrod, Janaya, Louisa and Tyson help to explain:

  • the rights of students with disability
  • what schools must do to support and protect them, and
  • support to contact for assistance.

This resource was co-designed by and for young First Nations people with disability, with the help of First Peoples Disability Network Australia and Children and Young People with Disability Australia.

To access the resource, visit the Department of Education’s website: Our right to learn and play - Department of Education, Australian Government.
