National Science Week 2020

National Science Week 2020 has a range of virtual, online and DIY science events. Get involved from 15-23 August.

National Science Week is an annual celebration of science and technology. This celebration is an opportunity to learn more about the world, the work of scientists, inventors and spark your own curiosity.

National Science Week will be held from 15 – 23 August 2020. There is a range of virtual and online activities and events as well as DIY activities to try at home. There are activities and events for all age groups.

Some of the National Science Week  events include:

  • Indigenous Science Experience (15-23 August) Highlights the value of traditional and contemporary Indigenous knowledge in STEM. This session is organised by the National Indigenous Science Education Program, Macquarie University, and Redfern Community Centre. Bookings are required for this live event.

     
  • STEM Canberra Forum (21 August) Future Indigenous leaders of tomorrow being inspired by Indigenous elders of today. This event is aimed at students aged 16-24.

     
  • Tasmania’s First Scientists (15-23 August) Investigations into Tasmanian Aboriginal canoe-making with a focus on naval architecture and cultural use of plants. Young learners can submit drawings for an online exhibition. Organised by the University of Tasmania

Join the South Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service to watch the annual migration of the Giant Australian Cuttlefish in the cold water of Upper Spencer Gulf Marine Park near Whyalla.
