National Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program
The Australian Government is seeking service providers to design and deliver a $10 million National Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program.
Are you passionate about Indigenous tourism? Do you want to help emerging Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses in the sector?
Experienced and innovative service providers are encouraged to apply to deliver the National Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program.
Selected service providers will work with NIAA to design and deliver a place-based program tailored to the diverse needs of individual businesses across the country.
The providers will identify suitably qualified local Indigenous mentors to deliver the Program. The mentors will help emerging Indigenous-owned tourism businesses to analyse changing demand, identify target markets, and build strategies to develop new products and access new and emerging markets.
Strengthening business capability will help Indigenous tourism operators take advantage of the increasing interest in unique cultural experiences, including from overseas visitors once borders re-open.
The National Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program will also help to support economic development and employment opportunities in remote and regional areas of Australia, as the majority of Indigenous tourism activities are located outside major cities.
The Program is designed to grow the economic participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the tourism industry, a goal closely aligned with the theme of the Indigenous Business Month 2021: ‘Powering the Indigenous Economy’.
The closing date for tenders is 2:00 pm (AEDST), Thursday 16 December 2021.
