Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) Grant Guidelines have changed – find out what this means for you

Grants and Funding
Orange tile with the text: NIAA, Indigenous Advancement Strategy Changes to Grant Guidelines. There is an Australian Government logo at top left and an Indigenous design at bottom right.

Changes to Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) Grant Guidelines now make it easier for organisations to apply for funding.

Grant Guidelines under the IAS have changed to:

  • make the guidelines easier to read.
  • make it easier to understand program requirements.
  • streamline the Community Led approach.
  • increase the allocation of IAS grant funding to Indigenous organisations.

The IAS is the way the Australian Government funds and delivers a range of programs for Indigenous Australians. The IAS is administered by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).

Under the IAS, grant opportunities are available under six programs:

  • Program 1.1 Jobs, Land and Economy
  • Program 1.2 Children and Schooling
  • Program 1.3 Safety and Wellbeing
  • Program 1.4 Culture and Capability
  • Program 1.5 Remote Australia Strategies
  • Program 1.6 Research and Evaluation

To read the new Grant Guidelines, visit the NIAA website.

If you are interested in applying for IAS funding, go to GrantConnect.

You can also contact your local NIAA Regional Office.

If you submitted an application for funding before this change took place, your application will be assessed against the guidelines that were in effect when it was lodged. No further action should be required unless the NIAA contacts you for more information.
