Have your say on the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Safety Plan
Public consultation is now open to inform the development of the first National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Safety Plan.
The Australian Government in partnership with the First Nations National Plan Steering Committee and SNAICC - National Voice for our Children is calling for submissions from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities with lived experience of domestic and family violence.
We are also seeking contributions from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations and the services sector, and the general public.
The consultation aims to understand the diverse range of experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to increase safety of women and children. It will facilitate the development of targeted and customised solutions, priorities and approaches that will address the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The results of the consultation process will inform the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Safety Plan, due to be released mid next year.
This work is part of the Australian Government’s ongoing response to Target 13 of Closing the Gap: to reduce all forms of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children by at least 50 per cent by 2031, as we progress towards zero.
Have your say at https://www.snaicc.org.au/our-work/our-ways-strong-ways-our-voices/fami…. The consultation period is now open and will close on 4 November at 11:59 pm, AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time).
