COVID-19 – Point-of-Care Testing Program
The COVID-19 Point-of-Care Testing program helps people in regional and remote communities get tested and get results quickly.
The COVID-19 Point-of-Care Testing Program helps people living in regional and remote communities across Australia to get tested more easily and get their results more quickly.
Eighty five testing sites are being established in communities across Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
The point of Care testing uses a device called GeneXpert which allows people to get their test results in just 45 minutes, much more quickly than they would if the test had to be sent to a pathology lab in a bigger town.
Testing machines, equipment and training are being supplied to communities to support this program.
