Media release - Roper Gulf Regional Council

Applications for Roper Gulf Regional Council's Community Grants Program will be open on Monday 07 February 2022.

Community groups, organisations and individuals are invited to apply for grant funding of up to $5,000 each to support local community projects.

The purpose of the program is to encourage and support community initiatives that respond to local needs, enhance community wellbeing, culture and quality of life and are of benefit to our residents.

With $65,000 available in this round of funding, Council is excited to be able to provide support to a number of local organisations or individuals across the Roper Gulf region.

Mayor Tony Jack said Council has supported many worthwhile projects and groups through the grants program over many years.

“We encourage clubs, facility managers and groups to think about projects or activities they are wanting to achieve and look into whether they fit into the criteria for the grants.

“Council invites applications for any event, activity or project that will benefit the community,” Mayor Jack said.

In the last round of the program, the Arnhem Crows Football Club received a grant of $3,000 to go towards their Pride of Arnhem project, which involves creating new fishing shirts with sponsor’s logos for club supporters.

Dylan Fuller from Barunga is on the leadership team for the Arnhem Crows and also plays for the club. “The grant money from the Council has given us the opportunity to create more merchandise for our supporters.

“The merchandise has been a good way to boost club morale and to give everyone a real sense of pride around the community and the football oval”, said Dylan.

“I encourage other clubs or organisations to apply for the grant program as well and use the money to enhance club pride”, he added.

The closing date for the current round is Monday 07 March 2022 at 11:59pm.
